    The Customer Sales Representative is focused on inside sales that include lead generation, cold calling, and customer development to support and grow the overall Velocity sales operations.



    To perform this job successfully, a qualified individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the following essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation:  

    •  Utilize and display sharp negotiation skills to ensure Velocity provides the most cost-effective logistics solutions
    • Maintain reliable communications with sales team and customer to support and resolve any problems
    • Understand and support the goals, policies, and procedures of Velocity Transport
    • Prospect for customers leads to build a customer sales pipeline
    • Manage and grow existing accounts to maximize margin abilities
    • Utilize the sales pipeline system (CRM) for tracking and maintaining all sales functions
    • Using business development skills to identify, qualify, obtain and develop relationships with business prospects
    • Understand current market conditions and business trends to opportunities to grow margins
    • Other duties related to the above that may be assigned as needed


    The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required for this position. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed.



    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics preferred, but not required.



    • Previous freight brokerage experience preferred, but not required
    • 6+ months of customer sales experience preferred, but not required
    • 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) experience and familiarity with TMS (Truck Management Systems) systems preferred, but not required



    • MS Office computer skills
    • Ability to work well independently, occasionally with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
    • Ability to consistently follow existing processes, develops new processes, and maintains required standards, and work with the team to improve them
    • Exceptional customer service focus and skills
    • Must have a drive to succeed, confidence and superior verbal communication skills
    • Organizational and scheduling skills 
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Willingness to make outbound sales calls


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The work requires a majority of sedentary type functions. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some movement from area to area, including transportation of items such as a laptop computer, and marketing materials, etc. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. Additionally, the employee is occasionally required to climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The incumbent will be expected to travel approximately 10%.
